Participation in and Endorsement of Initiatives

United Nations Global Compact

YKK AP endorsed the ideals advocated by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and signed on to the compact in May 2021.

We support the 10 principles of the UNGC, in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. As we actively work to instill these principles throughout YKK AP, we strive for an even higher level of sustainability management. Communicating information about these initiatives to our stakeholders as well, we are contributing toward the realization of a sustainable society.

Science Based Targets initiative

Our aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 on the basis of the scientifically grounded benchmark of "Well Below 2°C" was recognized by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in February 2021.

Specifically, we aim to cut our direct emissions by 50% and indirect emissions by 30% relative to 2013 levels. To achieve this objective, we have strengthened our climate efforts by tripling our investments in renewable energy relative to 2020 levels and aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.
